Terms of Service

Who we are
Gritlink is a free social and professional network for the skilled trades, run by Diamante Lara ("Gritlink", "we", "us"). These Terms are an agreement between you and Gritlink. By creating an account or using Gritlink, you agree to them, to our Privacy Policy and to our Community Guidelines.
Who can use Gritlink
You must be at least 18 years old and able to make a binding agreement. You may have a personal account (for hiring) and a business account (for working in the trades). Each account is for one real person or one real business.
Keep your login safe. You are responsible for what happens on your accounts. Tell us right away if you think someone else is using one.
Gritlink is free
Gritlink does not charge members and does not show ads. We may add, change or remove features at any time. If we ever plan to charge for anything, we will tell you first, and nothing will be charged without your clear agreement.
Gritlink connects people; it is not part of your job
Gritlink helps customers and pros find each other, share work and talk. We are not a contractor, employer, staffing agency or party to any agreement, quote, payment or job between members. Any work is agreed between you and the other member.
Pros are responsible for having the licenses, permits, insurance and bonds their work requires, and for following the laws where they work. Customers are responsible for choosing who to hire. Ask for proof, get agreements in writing, and never pay for work that has not been agreed.
What our badges and checks mean
When Gritlink shows a check by a name, or a Licensed, Insured or Bonded badge, it means a member sent us documents and the Gritlink admin reviewed them by hand at that time. The background check badge means a report from a screening company was reviewed against a photo ID. Credentials marked self-reported were not checked.
These checks are limited. Documents can expire, be cancelled or be wrong, and we cannot confirm everything. A badge is not a guarantee of a member’s work, honesty or safety, and it is not an endorsement by Gritlink. Always do your own checking before you hire.
Gritlink does not order background checks itself. If we ever do, we will follow the Fair Credit Reporting Act and ask for your permission first.
Quote requests, leads and opportunities
When you ask a pro for a quote, you can let Gritlink share the request with other pros if the pro you asked does not answer within 2 days or declines. Other pros then see the details of the job, your initials and your city, not your name or contact details, until you reply to one of them. If no pro in that trade sends a quote within 2 more days, pros in other trades may also see it. You can turn sharing off for each request.
Pros may only use leads to offer the work described. Do not contact customers outside what they shared, and do not resell or copy leads.
Your content
You own what you post: photos, projects, stories, messages, reviews and the rest. So that Gritlink can work, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, show and share your content in Gritlink, and to make copies needed to run the service (for example, smaller versions of photos). This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies others already shared or that remain in backups for a limited time.
Only post content you have the right to share. Do not post other people’s private information, or photos of a customer’s home without their permission.
Reviews and recommendations
Customer reviews may only be written by customers who hired that pro through Gritlink, and must describe a real experience. Recommendations are from one pro to another. Do not write reviews for yourself, your friends, or your competitors, and do not offer anything in exchange for a review. A pro may answer a review publicly and may dispute it with us; we may hide reviews that break these rules.
Reviews from other sites (Google, BBB and Nextdoor) show only after the Gritlink admin checks them against that site, and belong to those sites.
Things you may not do
Do not break the law, mislead people, or put anyone in danger. Do not pretend to be someone else, post fake credentials, licenses or insurance, scam or harass members, send spam, copy or scrape Gritlink, try to get into accounts or data that are not yours, or interfere with how Gritlink works. Our Community Guidelines explain more.
Reports, removal and closing accounts
You can report members, posts, messages and reviews. We may remove content, remove badges, limit features, or suspend or close accounts that break these Terms or the Community Guidelines, or that put others at risk. Where it is safe and practical, we will tell you why.
You can delete your account at any time in Settings. Deleting it removes your profile, posts, photos, credentials, messages and connections from Gritlink, as described in our Privacy Policy.
No guarantees
Gritlink is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises that Gritlink will always be available, error-free or secure, or that any member, review, badge, quote or lead is accurate, and we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
Limits on our responsibility
To the fullest extent the law allows, Gritlink is not responsible for the actions of members, for work done or not done, for property damage or injury from a job, or for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or lost profits, data or business. Because Gritlink is free, if we are found responsible for anything, our total responsibility to you is limited to one hundred US dollars ($100).
Some places do not allow these limits, so some of them may not apply to you.
Your responsibility to us
If you break these Terms or the law, or your content or work causes a claim against Gritlink, you agree to cover the reasonable costs that result, including legal fees, to the extent the law allows.
Disagreements
If you have a problem with Gritlink, email diamantereylara@gmail.com first; most things can be fixed quickly. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, USA, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute that cannot be settled informally will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it elsewhere. You may also bring a claim in small claims court if it qualifies.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change is important, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using Gritlink after that, you accept the new Terms. If you do not agree, you can delete your account.
