The short version
Gritlink is free and has no ads. We do not sell your information, share it for advertising, or use advertising trackers. We collect what is needed to run a network for the trades: your account, your profile, what you post, and the documents you choose to send for checking. You can see, change or delete it.
What we collect
Account: your email address and password (stored scrambled, never readable by us), or your name and email from Google if you sign in with Google. If you have more than one Gritlink account, each is kept separately.
Profile: your name, profile and cover photos, account type, trade, job title, industries, years of experience, bio, city, county and state, and, for businesses, the store address, phone, public email, website, hours, areas served, services and prices, social media links, links to your reviews on Google, BBB and Nextdoor, and how you customized your profile. A private birth year if you give one.
What you share: posts, photos, stories (shown for 24 hours), comments, reactions, saved posts, groups, messages, quote requests and quotes, jobs, referrals, reviews, recommendations, follows, connections, partnerships and reports.
Credentials and checks: license, insurance and bond numbers, issuers and expiration dates, photos or PDFs of those documents, background check reports with the screening company, report date and report ID, a photo of your ID, and your consent to confirm it. These are only for checking you; see "Who can see what".
Activity: when you view profiles, request or send quotes, and use features, so we can show analytics to businesses (such as profile views) and keep Gritlink working and safe. Your sign-in is kept on your device so you stay signed in. We do not collect your precise location; places are only what you type in.
Who can see what
Public on Gritlink: your profile, posts, stories while they last, reviews and recommendations about you, and your badges. Anyone using Gritlink can see these.
Only the people involved: messages, quote requests and quotes, and referrals. When a customer lets a request be shared as an opportunity, other pros see the job details, the customer’s initials and city, not their name or contact details, until the customer replies.
Only you and the Gritlink admin: your credential documents, background check reports, photo ID, private birth year, and reports you file. The admin reviews documents by hand to decide on badges. Other members only see the badge, never the document.
Business analytics show counts (such as profile views and quotes sent), not who viewed you.
How we use it
To run Gritlink: show profiles and posts, deliver messages and notifications, match customer requests and opportunities to pros in the right trade and state, check credentials and award badges, send sign-up and password codes by email, keep members safe, review reports, prevent fraud and spam, fix problems, and improve features. We do not use your information for ads, and we do not make decisions about you using automated profiling.
Companies that help us run Gritlink
We use a small number of service providers who process information only to provide their service to us: Supabase (our database, file storage and sign-in, hosted in the United States), Resend (sends our emails), Google (only if you choose to sign in with Google), and Expo (delivers app updates). We do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
We may share information if the law requires it, to protect members or the public from harm or fraud, or to enforce our Terms. If Gritlink is ever transferred to another owner, your information would go with it under this policy, and we would tell you first.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. Stories disappear from Gritlink after 24 hours. Expired opportunities stop being shown after 30 days. When you delete your account in Settings, we delete your login, profile, posts, photos, credentials and documents, messages and connections. Copies can remain in backups for a limited time before they are overwritten, and content others copied or shared outside Gritlink is beyond our control.
Your choices and rights
You can change your profile and settings, hide details from your profile, turn off opportunity alerts, delete posts and stories, and delete your account at any time in the app.
You can also ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete it, by emailing diamantereylara@gmail.com. Depending on the state you live in (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and others), you may have more rights under state privacy laws, such as the right to know what we collect and to opt out of sale or targeted advertising. We do not sell your information or use it for targeted advertising. We will not treat you differently for using your rights. We will answer within the time the law requires and may need to confirm it is you first.
Security
We use encrypted connections, scrambled passwords, and database rules that limit each member to what they are allowed to see; credential documents are kept in private storage. No system is perfectly secure, so use a strong password that you do not use anywhere else. If we learn of a breach that affects you, we will tell you as the law requires.
Children
Gritlink is only for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you believe a child is using Gritlink, tell us and we will delete the account.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in an important way, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
